Recently, an MGIGLab-L Automated NGS Library Preparation Production Line capable of processing more than 1,000 samples per day was successfully put into trial operation in in China National GeneBank, contributing to large-scale Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) projects.
MGIGLab-L Automated NGS Library Preparation Production Line
Library preparation is the first step of next generation sequencing. It allows DNA or RNA to distributed onto the sequencing flow cell and allows the sample to be identified. Traditional library preparation method requires intensive manual operation and tedious material preparation and information verification, making it difficult to complete large-scale gene sequencing project in an accurate and efficient manner.
"To solve this problem, MGI developed MGIGLab-L Automated NGS Library Preparation Production Line, an ultra-high throughput production line with intelligent customization for NGS library preparation walk-away automation." Said Li Jing, Director of Automation Products R&D department at MGI.
Microporous plate-transfer robot, mechanical arm and carrying track, transfer materials between various instruments
MGIGLab-L integrates Microplate Transfer Robot, High-throughput Automated Sample Preparation System and Microplate Storage enable a highly automated and streamlined workflow for large-scale NGS library preparation.
MGIGLab-L is fully automated and customizable to accommodate different applications and throughput needs. Equipped with multi-layer management such as intelligent scheduling and parallel control, MGIGLab-L can handle more than 1,000 samples per day with only 1-3 junior lab technicians to complete the material placement and real-time production monitoring. While a traditional single unit automated workstation requires at least 10 senior lab technicians to process more than 1,000 samples a day. Additionally, a traditional single automated workstation would take up the space of 4 laboratories to complete sample processing However an MGIGLab-L Automated NGS Library Preparation Production Line saves half of the lab space.
High-throughput automated sample preparation system can automatically complete nucleic acid extraction and purification, enzyme reaction and purification of enzyme reaction products.
MGIGLab-L Automated NGS Library Preparation Production Line automates the labor-intensive and time-consuming procedures in the library preparation process and enables a highly efficient streamlined workflow. "It can reduce human errors and enhance the overall efficiency to allow researchers to be more engaged in valuable research work." Said Zou Liangying, Senior Product Manager of Automation Products at MGI.
