The global cancer landscape is changing, according to WHO experts, on the World Cancer Day 2021. Breast cancer has now overtaken lung cancer as the world's mostly commonly diagnosed cancer. According to the Chinese Journal of Oncology, the statistics of breast cancer among women in China is at a low level under the age of 20, and then increases rapidly with age, peaking around 55 to 60 years old. Early detection and regularultrasoundscreening can detect asymptomatic breast cancer years earlier, where the five-year survival rate can reach 90%, thus reducing the risk of women dying from breast cancer.
The national health authorities also call for women over 45 years old (40 years old at high risk) to have an annual breast ultrasound imaging examination, and comprehensive measures should be taken, with the focus on rural women and urban women living on subsistence allowances, to provide screening services for cervical cancer and breast cancer for women of appropriate age and promote early diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
The voluntary event of "Caring for Women's Health –Public Breast Ultrasound Examination" held by MGI and Roche has played a positive role in promoting the awareness of urban women on breast health. In the future, MGI will continue to work with more industry partners to enhance women's awareness of "Early detection, Early diagnosis, and Early treatment" of Cancer and provide more high-quality medical resource and services to improve women's health.
