On July 3, MGI Tech Co., Ltd. (referred to as MGI) and Beijing DYNA FLOW Tech Co., Ltd. formally signed a Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement, and both parties officially confirmed that they are strategic cooperative partners. We will carry out all-round strategic cooperation in the building and application of laboratory, and jointly develop an integrated nucleic acid detection lab, further helping “Huo-Yan” lab to become a powerful support for the new infrastructure of public health in China.
MGI and DYNA FLOW officially signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement
The overall package of integrated nucleic acid detection laboratory is developed from assembly technology, which highly integrates the experimental functions, auxiliary areas and electromechanical systems to be used exclusively for nucleic acid detection.
This package will effectively supplement and expand the application scenarios of the “Huo-Yan” laboratory operated by MGI, and has the features of flexible site selection, outdoor operation, quick results with small flux, etc., which meets the urgent needs of China in the “wartime” of the disease prevention and control.
Nucleic acid detection is the gold standard for the diagnosis of new coronavirus infection. “Huo-Yan” lab is a large-scale, standardized nucleic acid detection platform, providing an integrated pathogen detection solution. In this global fight against COVID-19, the “Huo-Yan” lab has moved from China to the world, and China's scientific and technological forces, represented by MGI, are making great contributions to the global epidemic prevention.
In China, “Huo-Yan” laboratories have been set up in 13 major cities in China, such as Beijing, Wuhan, Shenzhen and Tianjin. The daily detection capacity of “Huo-Yan” labs has exceeded 160,000 samples nationwide. Internationally, more than 70 “Huo-Yan” laboratories in more than 20 countries and regions have been set up in succession, and the total daily flux is expected to exceed 300,000 samples, contributing to the global efforts of epidemic prevention and control.
To quickly solve the problem of lack of biosafety laboratories in various countries and regions, and the difficulty of physical modification of labs varies from place to place. MGI, in collaboration with its partners, have jointly designed a mobile, inflatable P2 level biosafety laboratory, the Huo-Yan Air Lab, in April this year, which has been put into use in Gabon, Kazakhstan and other countries.
In late June, in order to meet the requirements of epidemic prevention and control of “testing for all” in Beijing, the Huo-Yan Air Lab was built and put into use in Beijing Daxing Sports Center, with a daily detection capacity of 100,000 samples, making it the Huo-Yan Air Lab with the largest daily detection flux in the world. After the completion of the laboratory, the capability of nucleic acid testing in Beijing has been greatly improved. At present, the total number of tests in Beijing has reached one million.
The MGI integrated nucleic acid testing lab is characterized by flexible site selection, outdoor operation, quick results with small flux, etc., which can meet the requirements of rapid viral nucleic acid testing for the community.
The “Huo-Yan Air Lab” is equipped with the latest secret weapon developed by MGI, including MGISTP-7000 High-throughput Automated Sample Transfer Processing System. Compared with the traditional manual operation modes of information checking, cap opening, liquid transferring and cap closing, MGISTP-7000 supports the inactivated sample collection tube to process the sample with its cap on, and it integrates tube decapping, tube recapping, barcode identification, automated liquid transfer. At the same time, it is built with negative pressure filtering system, which is safe and reliable, and a single device can process up to 7000 samples per day.

MGI is committed to promoting a complete package for coronavirus nucleic acid detection. The integrated nucleic acid detection lab, equipped with MGISTP-7000 and MGISP-960, is characterized by the flexible site selection, fast set-up, and perfect space and process for nucleic acid testing, which can be set up in ports, docks, airports and even every community.
The testing capacity of a single cabin of the integrated nucleic acid detection lab can be increased to 1,000 samples per day, and that of the "double-cabin" can be scaled up to 3,000 samples per day, which can help communities, hospitals, disease control and testing institutions to rapidly improve the detection capacity in a very short time, which is of great significance for epidemic prevention and control.
At present, Installation, configuration, and acceptance testing for DYNA FLOW’s single-cabin lab can be completed within 8 hours. While installation, configuration, and acceptance testing for a double-cabin lab can be completed in 24 hours.
Note:MGISTP-7000, a high-throughput automated sample transfer processing system, is specially developed by MGI, which can automatically transfer 192 samples from single tube to 96-well plate within 40 minutes.
