On the evening of November 19, 2020, the road to Inner Mongolia was locked down due to many days of heavy snow, the after-sales service engineer of MGI Yunying, a subsidiary company of MGI, finally managed to deliver MGI’s remote robotic ultrasound system, MGIUS-R3, to the health center in Heilaoyao Township, the most famous poverty-stricken town in Inner Mongolia. Behind all this, there is an unknown story ... (The following story is narrated in first person)

I am an after-sales service engineer of MGI Yunying. I left for Inner Mongolia as soon as possible when I received an installation assignment at Heilaoyao Township, Hohhot. Unexpectedly, after about 30 kilometers of departure, the road was completely covered by heavy snow.

The Road Administration issued a notice of road closure, and just like that, we were blocked on the road.

As it happened all of a sudden, I immediately contacted with relevant leaders and the health center and reported the situation.

Due to the departure was all in a hurry, I completely forgot to bring any food or water. Fortunately, there were some walnuts in the driver's car, which was definitely the only thing left that we could eat.

Speaking of which, this is the first time I have seen snow for someone who comes from Souther China where rarely snows. My excitement has long been worn away by hunger and cold...

Finally, we managed to hang in there until 7 o'clock the next morning. Given the fact there was barely any food and water left on the car, the wind and snow, however, were still raging outside, and there was no way that the car to drive on the road given the heavy snow situation. The driver and I were completely desperate at that time!

Later, after we got contact with colleagues in the northern region, we decided to go out to try our luck to see if we could find some food to fill our stomachs.

Frustratedly, the car door was already frozen by the thick ice...

The two of us used all our strength and finally opened the door of the car, only to realize that the cold wind outside made it difficult to move!

In order to fill our stomach, we had to try to walk several hundred meters.

No, I really can't go, it’s difficult to make any move, let's go back...

We had to give up and returned to the car but discovered a small village was a few hundred meters away behind us. Suddenly, a flicker of hope ignited inside us!

We decided to summon the courage and go to the small village to try our luck again.

Finally, we managed to get there, and could not wait to knock on the doors of several houses, but sadly no one answered.

Falling into despair again...

Suddenly, there was a cow barking not far away, and we were happily surprised to walk along the sound. Finally, we found a family.

After learning about our situation, they quickly invited us into the house, prepared boiled water and noodles for us!

This bowl of noodles have been the most unforgettable bowl of noodles I have ever eaten...

After we overcame all difficulties, the snow gradually subsided, and the road was slowly cleared up. Finally, on the evening of November 19, we successfully delivered the equipment to the Health Center in Heilaoyao Township, Hohhot.

Fortunately, doctors of the Hohhot People's Hospital are now able to conduct "remote real-time diagnosis" for patient in Heilaoyao Township Health Center with the help of MGI’s Remote Robotic Ultrasound System.

The remote control with a delay of less than 100ms allows the patients in Heilaoyao Township to receive examination by remote experts from 3A-grade hospitals without the need to go through all the way to hopstials thousands of miles.

"with the help of MGI’s remote robotic ultrasound system, MGIUS-R3, its flexible manipulator system can perfectly reproduce my technique and posture on the patient's side. Apart from that, I can control the pressure by myself , and communicate and interact with patients thousands miles away through the interactive screen. There IS such an amazing ultrasound device!”Dr. Wang from Hohhot People’s hospital expressed his thanks.

For MGI Yunying, it is worthwhile to win the recognition of customers and help distribute high-quality medical resources to aid resource-constrained areas, no matter how difficult the journey is.

We are so proud and pleased that MGIUS-R3 can help to solve the shortage of medical resources. The use of the remote ultrasound system not only helps distribute high-quality medical resources to aid resource-constrained areas, but also makes remote real-time diagnosis available for more patients get timely diagnosis and treatment.
