On February 20th, Shanxi Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) allocated two MGI container labs to the Second People's Hospital of Jinzhong, Taigu District. MGI's engineer team worked non-stop to complete the installation, debugging and commissioning in only 12 hours to support the local COVID-19 response.
"Empowered by the automated & integrated mobile testing lab (container lab), we are confident that we can cooperate with Shanxi CDC to greatly enhance the local testing capacity for more effective control and prevention of COVID-19." Said Guo Tingzhen, Party Secretary of Jinzhong Second People's Hospital.
MGI Container Lab
The two container labs equipped with MGI's innovative automation systemsMGISP-960 Sample Preparation System and MGISTP-7000 Sample Transfer System, enabling laboratory technicians to process up to 10,000 samples per day. This two high-degree automation systems automates the whole process from barcode identification, sample preparation, DNA/RNA extraction, liquid transfer, and fluorescence quantitative PCR testing to report distribution in a diagnostic testing laboratory, enabling a highly efficient streamlined workflow.
This Biosafety Level 2 laboratory is further enhanced with state-of-the-art ventilation systems for air exchange, pressure control and sterilization. It consists of three main functional areas: Reagent Preparation room, Sample Preparation room, and PCR room. The container lab is designed to be easily transported by suitable vehicle and quickly deployed to open space such as stadiums, community hospitals, health departments, or wherever appropriate in emergency situations where mass testing is required. It reduces both sample transportation time and travel time for patients who need to quickly get a PCR test done and go. The systems minimize the labor required, shorten the turnaround time to receive the test report in just 4 hours, and improve the testing efficiency and capacity significantly.
"Since the beginning of pandemic, MGI Container lab has been supporting many provinces including Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, and Henan to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. We are mission-oriented to upgrade our innovative platforms to standardize diagnostic labs with higher data capacity and automation for large-scale nucleic acid detection to better empower customers." Said Lin Siyuan, Director of Mobile Platforms at MGI.
